This workshop is normally reserved for executive leaders, so the delegates have a head start learning these leadership skills at just 18-20 years of age. The session started with the girls selecting photographs that capture and define leadership to them. For example, one delegate chose an artistic painting of eyes, illustrating the vision required in leadership roles. Carolann stressed to the delegates the importance of emotional intelligence, being aware of your own weaknesses, as well as brainstorming and effective communication. She also explored gender, race and perception. The delegates took Myers-Briggs personality tests prior to the workshop, where they identified their personality types and leadership style. ”Leadership is all about people,” says Carolann. It’s the best and hardest part.
