Announcing the Spring 2022 G(irls)20 Summit

To our Community,

With the launch of our strategic plan, the rebrand underway, and a new program to announce shortly, it’s been a busy first half of the year at G(irls)20! Today, I wanted to share some news with you about our Global Summit.

Over the last eleven years, the G(irls)20 Global Summit became more than a single event: it became a world-class training experience for leadership, advocacy, social entrepreneurship, confidence, and building networks of lifelong friends. These attributes are the most valuable components of our programming, and with the new strategic direction of our program and organization, we seek to ensure that the Summit experience continues to deliver exceptional value to young women. This will require a Summit redesign. Due to the ongoing global pandemic and the time required to undertake the redesign process, G(irls)20 is moving the Summit to the Spring of 2022.

Beginning in 2022, the G(irls)20 Summit will no longer be tied to the G20. It will be hosted in Canada and will be open to delegates from beyond the G20 countries. It will continue to focus on building skills and community – the two areas in which we thrive.  After the Summit, our organization will commit to sending delegates to spaces of power to carry forward the voice of young women. These ‘spaces of power’ may include – but are not limited to – the W20, G7, Women Political Leaders, Women’s Forum for the Economy, etc. Over the coming months, the G(irls)20 team, the Steering Committee, and our broader community will work together to develop eligibility criteria, new Summit outcomes, and other key aspects of programming.

G(irls)20 is committed to bringing young women together for dialogue and collaboration. The Spring 2022 Summit will have an age range of 18-24 and young women from all countries will be eligible. Depending on COVID-19 restrictions and worldwide vaccination rates, the Summit will either be in-person or online.
